Well, many astronauts are military test pilots, many astronauts are engineers or scientists or medical doctors. So those backgrounds can make a potential astronaut, but also are testing the ability to work in defined places and extreme environments. Over.
- Ana (16) What is the worst and the best part of your job? Over.
Ana, the best part of the job, of course, is being here and seeing the Earth from this vantage point, the worst part of the job is being separated from family. Over.
- Andreea (17) Have you ever felt the impact of space debris hitting the ISS? Over.
Hello Andreea, no, I’ve never felt the impact of space debris hitting the ISS. We do have evidence outside of some debris, some small debris, that hit the ISS. Thankfully, we have a shielding that is protecting us. Over.
- Mihai (15) What was the most difficult test that you took during your astronaut training? Over.
Hello Mihai. None of the training was particularly difficult, however all of it put together makes a great challenge. Probably one of the most difficult tasks was to learn the Russian language. Over.
- Catalin (12) What is an everyday thing which is extremely difficult on ISS? Over.
Probably managing stuff. Everything floats and everything wants to float away, so it’s easy to lose things but eventually you’ll find them again. Over.
- Diana(17) What is the most beautiful thing that you can see from space? Over.
The most beautiful thing that we can see from space is the Earth itself with its (…), lightning conditions, sunsets, sunrises, terrain, oceans, weather, all of that is the most beautiful.
- Laurentiu (15) Have you ever observed solar radiation affecting ISS radio communication? Over.
I personally have not experienced solar radiation affecting our radio communication. Over.
- Mihai (15) Is radio comm a passion or is a job obligation? Over.
Hello Mihai, one of the greatest thrills of being here is to share the experience with people on Earth and of course radio comm allows us to do that so I would call that a passion
- Alexandra(17) What is the most interesting discovery made on ISS using plasma? Over.
Well, this environment allows you to do some things that you can’t do on Earth, so some of the characteristics that you can see with plasma have been very interesting in some of the experiments, especially one called ‘plasma crystal’ on ISS. Over.
- Ioana (14) What’s the biggest difference between expectation and reality when living in space? Over.
That’s a hard question, Ioana, probably the fact that it’s a long time that you’re here and away from home and sometimes people will under estimate that before flight. Over.
- Radu (14) Has food the same taste in space? Over.
Food does taste pretty much the same in space but the flavors are somewhat subdued, so we like to spice them up a little bit more to make flavors a little bit stronger. Over.
- Maria (13) What is the first thing you will be doing when you come back Earth? Over.
The first thing I do when I come back is, of course, looking forward to seeing my family and then eating some fresh food on a plate. Over.
- Alexandru (18) What is your most challenging task on the ISS? Over.
Every day, the most challenging thing is to get through the stage schedule, we are very busy. Probably the most challenging thing we do in space is a spacewalk. Over.
- Laura (17) How did your know you had a passion for space exploration? Over.
I think I developed it in my younger years and then I became aware of the opportunity to apply to be an astronaut and pursued it as a goal while I was at the military academy at Westpoint. Over.
- Mihnea (18) Do you think spaceflight will be accessible for the masses in the future? Over.
I don’t think it will be accessible for the masses in the near future, but it will be accessible to more people in the near future and eventually more and more people in the far future. Over.
- Andra (15) Given the chance, would you live exclusively on Earth, or on the ISS? Over.
Andra, it’s a great question. There are great things to do here on the ISS, but I think home is the Earth, so if it was exclusively, it has to be on the Earth. Over.
- Eusebiu (16) Has space travel changed your life? Over.
Oh, this is a very significant experience, so I would say yes, it does change the life of anybody who comes up here and experiences it. Over.
- Carla (17) Is it true that after coming back you shouldn’t expose yourself to sunlight?
Yes, for a couple of reasons. One is vitamin D, we get it from the sunlight; we don’t get sunlight up here so we take vitamin D pills every day. Over.
- Alexandra (16) What do you do in your free time? Over.
Of course, I contact friends and family at home, but also I spend a lot of time in the window, taking pictures of the Earth. Over.
- Andrei (17) What is the coolest thing you have done in microgravity? Over.
No matter how old we get, we all love to play with our food and play with water, bubbles of water droplets in the microgravity. There is a lot of things you can do with that. Over.

Buna ziua Mihai, una dintre cele mai tari senzatii de a fi aici este să ne împărtăşim experienţa cu oamenii de pe pământ şi desigur comunicaţiile radio ne ajută să facem aceasta, astfel încât le-aş numi o pasiune. Over.
- Alexandra (17) Care este cea mai interesantă descoperire făcută pe ISS folosind plasma? Over.
Ei bine, acest mediu îţi permite să faci unele lucruri pe care nu le poţi face pe Pământ, astfel încât unele dintre proprietăţile observate folosind plasma au fost foarte interesante în unele experimente pe ISS, mai ales unul numit „cristal de plasmă”. Over.
